Organic and local food choices and sustainable practices are high priorities for consumers today. In support of healthy lifestyle decisions, NOFA-NJ continues to provide the consumer with the necessary resources to locate these food sources and services within the Garden State. The New Jersey Food & Farm Guide 2010-2011 will give more exposure for the producers of healthy and organic food.

 

We are soliciting advertisements to include in this new publication. You will find the New Jersey Food & Farm Guide 2010-2011 Advertiser Form and pricing on our website: www.nofanj.org 

 

The guide is currently in production and will list farms, farm markets and other providers of organic, local and sustainably produced food in the Garden State. Please send your print-ready ad (details are available on the form) electronically or on CD with payment by May 7, 2010, to:

NOFA-NJ Class: Tilling the Soil of Opportunity

If the seeds of an agricultural business have already been planted in your mind, check out NOFA-NJ's more comprehensive course titled, "Tilling the Soil of Opportunity."  This course is geared toward farmers looking for innovative ideas and enhanced marketing opportunities. Topics include equipment, legal issues, management and communication, risk management, marketing, budgeting and accounting, financing, succession planning, and how to evaluate resources, among others.
 
  Class will meet at the Coach Barn on Duke Farms, 80 Rt. 206 South, Hillsborough, NJ  08844.

NOFA-NJ Class: Exploring the Small
 Farm Dream

Have you ever thought about starting a farm?  
Whether your vision includes making goat cheese, selling cut flowers, or growing rare tomato varieties, this course will give you the tools to start making that dream come true. Participants will discuss current opportunities in small-scale agriculture, explore objectives, assess personal and financial resources, conduct preliminary market research and develop an action plan for pursuing their interests in food and farming.

All levels of experience are welcome. If you are thinking about starting a farm, this class is for you! This includes people thinking about full time farming, farming part-time while continuing other employment, changing careers to start a farm, and /or developing an existing but informal farming pastime into a more serious business activity. 
 
 Class will meet at the Coach Barn on Duke Farms,
