Cooking isn't just about recipes. It starts with understanding
ingredients and how they work together.
In this series of hands-on classes we'll explore the five basic
tastes—sweet, salty, sour, bitter and umami. We'll talk about their
role in cooking, sample natural sources of each taste, and experiment
with different sources (for example, how pure chocolate changes when
mixed with different sweeteners). And we'll explore how tastes are
balanced or affected by other tastes.
This is one place where kids will be encouraged to play with their food!
Please note: We will be tasting a variety of foods, some which may
contain or may have come in contact with nuts, dairy products, soy,
wheat, or eggs.
